Two local artists will launch the next art show at the Sebastopol Area Senior Center starting July 20 with an opening reception slated for Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Internationally recognized photographer Cheryl (Cher) Traendly and local artist Gini Fenley will be showing their work at the Senior Center from July 20 through September 20.

Art Workshop of Western Sonoma County (AWS) is presenting artist/photographer Cheryl Traendly who has been recognized Internationally as a sports photographer since 1978. She has photographed athletes on-and- off the field and has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest, Women’s Sport and Fitness, and World Tennis magazines.

Retirement has opened up new adventures for creativity and self-exploration for Ms. Traendly. Cher began taking watercolor classes at the Pearson Senior Wing at Findley Center in Santa Rosa in 2014. “Watercolor is an exciting medium for me as there are many styles and techniques with which to experiment,” Cher said. “Mistakes are wonderful opportunities for creative discovery.”

Gini Fenley has been a Sebastopol resident for many years and has shown locally. Currently, she is working with Roberta Llewellyn of Voice Print to show her art. “I use acrylic paints to create uniquely textured and colored papers, and use them to collage and layer with acrylic paint paints and other mediums at times including found object,” Fenley said. “I delight in creating abstract, dynamic, and rhythmic compositions using color, shapes, line, and texture.”

Please join us at the Aug. 5 reception to celebrate our local artists and mingle with art lovers and many others interested in supporting our art community and Senior Center. Food, wine, and beverages will be served at the Senior Center.

The Art Workshop of Western Sonoma County (AWS) is an artist group of long standing in Sonoma County and facilitates art installations at the Sebastopol Area Senior Center. It is working in collaboration with Voice-Print for this show.
