Our community continues to grow, your donations make it so.
The Sebastopol Area Senior Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 Corporation. Your donations are fully tax deductible.
As the boomers continue to move into retirement, our senior community continues to grow. The Sebastopol Area Senior Center needs to parallel this growth, which requires broadening our financial base. Unlike most senior centers across the country, we are not a function of a city parks and recreation department. We are a private, non-profit organization, and must generate all of our assets and revenue through donations, grants, The Legacy Store, program fees, and bequests and annuities.
There are numerous ways that you can donate to the Sebastopol Area Senior Center.

MAKE A PLANNED GIFT
There is nothing more true to the American spirit than charitable giving. Our system of charitable giving is encouraged in every level of society: at school, at work, at church, and by the U.S. Tax Code.
You may think: How can my $ matter when some private foundations give millions of dollars? It is individuals who give the most.
Making a planned gift can support the organization’s future. If the Sebastopol Area Senior Center counts on your annual support, what will we do when you are gone? With a planned gift such as an annuity or bequest you can make a difference in our future.
Contact us now to find out how your gift can best help the Sebastopol Area Senior Center in the future.
THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS FOR PLANNED GIVING:
The Sebastopol Area Senior Center is partnering with Silicon Valley Community Foundation to offer charitable gift annuities. With a charitable gift annuity, you will receive a fixed income payment based on your age at the time you fund the annuity and how many people (up to two) receive annuity payments. Could your investments bring you more income? Call us for more information.
To protect our future, we have established an ENDOWMENT.
The Sebastopol Area Senior Center has an Endowment Trust to enable investment of funds from wills and bequests to grow for future income. We do not want to spend someone’s lifetime gift in a few months, we want to set the asset aside and preserve the principal.
There are many things to consider when making a bequest. You may wish to review this information with your legal advisor, but here are some examples:
I give (dollar amount, property to be given, or percentage of estate) to the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, a non-profit California corporation located in Sebastopol, California, to be used for the benefit of the Senior Center in such a manner as the Board of Directors may elect.
I give (dollar amount, property to be given, or percentage of estate) to the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, a non-profit California corporation located in Sebastopol, California, to be used for (indicate specific purpose such as building fund, Program Services, Day Trips, Art Supplies). If in the future, the Board of Directors of the Sebastopol Area Senior Center determines that the specific purpose for which this fund was established no longer pertain or the programs benefiting from these funds no longer exist, the Board may designate that the funds be used for those purposes and programs at the Sebastopol Area Senior Center which are most closely aligned with the original intent of my gift.
I give the rest of the property I own at my death to the Sebastopol Area Senior Center, Sebastopol, California, to be used for unrestricted purposes.
If (name or names of beneficiaries) does not survive me, I give the remainder of the property I own to the Sebastopol Area Senior Center to be used for unrestricted purposes.

Are you 70 ½ or over and need to take a distribution from your IRA?
That will increase your taxable income and possibly your Medicare eligibility assessment. If you don’t really need it – you can donate all or part of it to a charity (like the Sebastopol Area Senior Center) and reduce some or all of your increase in income. The donation must be made directly from your account to the senior center, not to you. Your brokerage firm can do this for you.
Need to reduce your taxable income? Other ways you might donate include transferring of assets that have increase in value (capital gains), or creating a Donor Advised Fund with your broker.
