Phyllis Sutter, President
Phyllis is the Sonoma County Director for Hired Hands Homecare, Inc. Phyllis has been working in the Senior Services industry since 2009. Prior to 2009, Phyllis worked for almost 28 years in the real estate industry as a Sales and Marketing Director in the title business. Phyllis is a California native-born in San Jose and has lived in Sonoma County since she was three years old. Phyllis has one daughter and lives with her husband John Sutter in Santa Rosa.
Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Stanford University, private practice of law for 38 years, now semi-retired. Served in many positions of Kiwanis International including Club President, Division Lt. Governor, and various District positions. Past member of Board of Directors of March of Dimes, Northern California Region. One of the founders and presently Board of Directors of Kids One, Inc., a nonprofit child safety organization. Former Director of Salvation Army and former Director of San Mateo County Legal Aid Society, and San Mateo County Bar Association.
Renee Anderson, Secretary
As a 3rd generation Californian, Rene’e was born and raised in West Sonoma County. After a long career in the Real Estate lending arena and retiring from a New York based bank as a mortgage banker, she currently works as a Real Estate Agent for Vanguard Properties in Sebastopol. As a current member of our Sebastopol Senior Center Board of Directors Rene’e has found the perfect place to help with fundraising and to become a part of an extended group of local Seniors and people directly involved with creating a great space for many of our community members!
Alan Beckstead, Vice President
Alan Beckstead Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. He has had a 38-year career with AT&T, currently Assistant Vice President for Technology and Engineering. He and his family have lived only three years in Sebastopol, and living here was their retirement dream location. We love being in Sonoma County! Alan has also been a past member of a various non-profit board of directors in San Antonio, Dallas, and St. Louis.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona. Graduated from ITSMA College of Arts in 1979; continuing her education at Arizona State University until 1982. She is the Executive Director at Solstice Senior Living at Santa Rosa where she has been since early 2015. She has been involved in fundraising volunteer efforts with Royal Family Kids since 2015, a program for high-risk foster children in Sonoma County.
She is a member the Mark West Chamber of Commerce. She is Director of Celebrate Recovery Kids, assisting with children whose parents are involved in multiple recovery programs in Sonoma County. She is married to Bruce Berry, has a daughter, two sons, and foster children. Karin’s family members are also Sonoma County business owners of Berry’s Saw Mill & Lumberyard, Building Materials & Contractor Storage, Cazadero Supply, and Cazadero Water Company.
Craig is a 2nd generation San Franciscan. As a kid, he vacationed at Rio Nido on the Russian River in the 1950’s and 60’s. He fondly remembers driving through Sebastopol and the ice cold apple cider that was famous here- and always wondered what it would be like to live here. In 1979, he moved here from the Peninsula and never looked back.
Craig has had various ventures during his professional career; namely, he founded Epic Plastics, a plastics manufacturing company, that sold in 2006. He currently owns and manages two commercial office buildings. Among his other accolades, he has served on the Sebastopol Streetscape Committee, Sebastopol Design Review Board, Sebastopol Art Commission, Sebastopol General Plan Update Committee & Analy Project Graduation. Currently he is serving on the Gravenstein USD Board of Trustees Bond oversight committee. He feels that the Sebastopol Area Senior Center is an important part of our community and is proud to serve.
Jerry Coleman is a retired municipal attorney, having spent most of his career in San Mateo County, the last twenty-two years as City Attorney of Burlingame. He grew up in Chico, went to college there and law school in Berkeley. He and his wife Mary moved to Sebastopol seven years ago. They are both drivers in our Senior Rides program. Jerry is active in and a past president of the Sebastopol Lions Club. He and Mary are particularly involved in the club’s vision programs. He was on the Driven to Perfection steering committee, and is active in the Community Church.
Brian Ledig, Immediate Past President
Brian Ledig has lived in Sonoma County for 30+ years and has an extensive familiarity with the area weather patterns, wells and septic and individual beauty of our beautiful County. While not limited to, he is a Registered Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and has particular expertise in this area. Seniors Real Estate Specialist – Trained in special needs and concerns of seniors; Monthly contributor – Wisdom Counts a monthly senior newsletter and online blog; Next Door Neighborhood – a network of 358 homes in our area.
Mark Mumm, Treasurer
Mark Mumm has been a CPA for 30+ years, and is now the owner of a CPA practice that specializes in tax work for non-profit organizations. Prior to running his own firm, he worked in a variety of management positions in the accounting and tax areas for several different organizations. He is a native Californian that recently moved with his wife to Sebastopol to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of West Sonoma County.
Native Californian – born in Burbank, brought up in Fullerton. Graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1968 in Civil Engineering; earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in 1972. Founding Principal of Summit Engineering in Santa Rosa in 1980; retired in 2006. He has been Involved in fundraising with the Sonoma County YMCA for over 25 years. He has been a member of the State Board of Directors of the Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors of California for over 20 years. He currently participates in the Inter-Church Food Pantry of Sebastopol. Married to Dale for 39 years, he has a daughter, son and three grandkids.
Bachelor degree in Math and Physics; Graduated from the University of Marseille as a Physical Therapist; Graduated from the University of Montpellier, France with a Ph.D. degree as a Senior Instructor in Physical Therapy. Passed the California State Exam as a Registered Physical Therapist. Worked in a private practice in Pinole, California for about 10 years. While working in the private practice, he started a rehabilitation company which grew to 165 employees in 26 different settings. In 1988 he became an Administrator of a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly. He owns Mirabel Lodge in Forestville. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol.
