TED Talks, every 1st Thursday of the month, 2p.m.
September 5th topic: What Almost Dying Taught Me About Living by Suleika Jaouad
In this fierce, funny, wisdom-packed talk, Suleika challenges us to think beyond the divide between “sick” and “well” asking: How do you begin again and find meaning after life is interrupted?
This group is open to anyone who enjoys big ideas and lively discussions. We first watch a short video (18 minutes or less) and then have a facilitated discussion afterward. Facilitated by Dr. Jon Jackson.
FREE for members; $5 day-use for non-members. No reservations necessary, just come on in!
About the facilitator: Dr. Jon Jackson is a retired psychiatrist and lover of neuroscience, literature, the arts, music, radio programs and film-making, to list a few. He currently lives in Sebastopol where he holds monthly depth psychology and film discussion groups. He also hosts a one-hour music program on KOWS radio.
About TED Talks: TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
