Time Travel to 1863 ~ Piedmont’s Historical Mountain View Cemetery

Docent Led Tour with Author Historian Dennis Evanosky. Chock full of incredible art & architecture, and a ton of Bay Area history.

Learn the story of Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed the cemetery as well as Central Park and other parks throughout the country. 100 years later, his son “Rick” arrived and added to his father’s design. We’ll see where the son’s design blends into his father’s.

We’ll stroll along both upper and lower Millionaires’ Rows and hear the history and stories of the founders of the San Francisco Bay Area. We will get to know Domingo Ghirardelli, Samuel Merritt, Julia Morgan, Charles Crocker, Thomas Hill, Bernard Maybeck and many more who made their contributions to the shaping of a nation’s frontier.
